How to Store: 3 Essential Tips for Bag Longevity

Owning a luxury bag is a statement of style and a significant investment. Proper storage is crucial to maintaining its beauty and value over time. Here are some expert tips to ensure your beloved bags stay in pristine condition for years to come.

  1. Use the Original Dust Bag

When you purchase a luxury bag, it often comes with a dust bag designed to protect it from dust, light, and scratches. These dust bags are typically made from soft, breathable materials that prevent moisture build-up and allow the leather or fabric to breathe. For unstructured bags, the manufacturer usually provides stuffing to help maintain the bag's shape. Rather than buying new, we like to recommend keep this stuffing and use it when storing your bag to prevent any deformation.

  1. Substitute with Organic Cotton Bags

If you’ve misplaced the original dust bag, don't worry. We like a soft organic cotton bag that can serve as an excellent substitute. You can find these with a drawstring or as simple totes. Make sure the bag is large enough to fit your luxury bag comfortably without squishing it. Fold the cotton bag carefully so that no dust can get inside. This way, your luxury bag remains clean and dust-free, even when stored for extended periods.

  1. Innovative Display with Rydir Bands

One of our customers shared a creative storage solution: using Rydir bands to display bags in your closet and keep it protected. Rydir bands can act as a protective cover, similar to a dust bag although it doesn’t cover the full thing (unless you use multiple). This not only keeps them dust-free but also makes them easily accessible for your next outing.

Additional Tips for Luxury Bag Care

Avoid Direct Sunlight: Exposure to direct sunlight can cause the color of your bag to fade. Always store your bags in a cool, dark place.

Maintain Shape: For bags without structure, consider using tissue paper or a bag insert to maintain their shape while stored.

Regular Cleaning: Gently wipe down your bag with a soft cloth or baby wipes before storing it to remove any dirt or oils that might have accumulated.

Remember, a little care goes a long way in maintaining the charm and value of your luxury investment. Let us know what you do to store your bags!
